Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc. is a non-profit agency dedicated to prevention and intervention in matters of health and safety for youth. Established more than 20 years ago, Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc. (MPY) is closely affiliated with the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. Both entities serve the diverse 54 cities and towns in Middlesex County, the largest county in Massachusetts. The PEC Coordinator will work out of 47 Thorndike St., Cambridge.
Job Summary
The Prevention and Education Coordinator (PEC) reports directly to the Executive Director (ED).The PEC will assist the ED with the organization's future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing and varied demand for its services. The PEC will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from internal coordination of in-service trainings to external presentations. This is a full time position, requiring some evening speaking engagements.
The successful candidate for this position must possess excellent public speaking and be comfortable speaking to school personnel, parents, students, law enforcement personnel and other stakeholders. Additionally, the successful candidate must have excellent writing skills which are necessary to draft prevention brochures, a bi-annual newsletter and power point presentations. Sophisticated computer/technology skills are essential. Candidates need to possess a background in prevention and intervention regarding matters of health and safety for youth, as well as a genuine passion for this important work. The following is a job description for this position:
Responsibilities
Structure and lead all facets of the in-service training program for professional staff and parents, including developing content, creating PowerPoint presentations, scheduling trainings with school districts and internal presenters, and maintaining records and statistics for the ED.
Draft content of newsletters and brochures, to be finalized by the ED.
Assist the ED regarding conference planning and preparation, including selection of conference materials for participant's packets.
Represent MPY at various speaking engagements, in-service trainings, conferences, professional associations, and other public venues.
Identify best practices and research based prevention strategies with an eye toward future needs and budget realities.
Prepare for and attend MPY Board Meetings, produce reports and make presentations, as directed by ED.
Spearhead various projects, including collaborations with the Middlesex District Attorney's Office such as the PSA Project and the annual Superintendents' and Chiefs' Breakfast.
Qualifications
Masters degree in a relevant field preferred; candidates with a JD or clinical degree are encouraged to apply.
Well rounded person with multi-disciplinary skills and ability to learn new skills quickly.
Highly organized
Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities.
Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, good humor.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people -- internal and external - from diverse backgrounds.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Passionate about MPY's overall mission and impact, especially intervention and prevention efforts.
Self-starter, self disciplined.
Proficiency in computer programs such as Photoshop, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
Possesses imagination, creativity.
Remain focused in the face of pressure, delivers against timelines, not intimidated by tasks/time limitations.
