Position Responsibilities - Summary
Our client is seeking several exceptional Lead Analysts with strong technology leadership and implementation skills for many of their key areas including Client Applications and Sponsored Products.
Client Applications:
The Client Applications IS team provides and supports technology solutions for 600+ global users in client and prospect facing functions including Relationship Management, Business Development, Client Servicing and Reporting, Investment Marketing, and Product Management.
Sponsored Products:
The Sponsored Products Systems Team is responsible for providing systems capabilities to the firm's Hedge Management, Trust Company and Management Portfolio's business areas. Members of the team play critical roles in the firm's success by providing technology solutions that improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of highly complex decision-making processes.
Openings:
These two groups are seeking several Lead Systems Analysts to aid in the delivery of technology solutions within Client Applications and Sponsored Products. These are senior roles and depending on seniority, individuals must be able to independently manage and deliver a range of small to large-sized projects. All roles are hands-on and the Systems Analysts will work with business users to identify needs, propose solutions, define requirements, perform detailed systems analysis, and work very closely with developers to deliver the solutions. Database skills (SQL) are required.
Individuals may be hired into roles focusing on either Client Applications or Sponsored Products.
In Client Applications, Analysts are hired into the following roles:
· Generalist analysts
· Client Reporting analysts
· CRM System analyst
· User and Application Support analyst
The User and Application Support Systems Analyst will be part of a global team that provides 24x7 user and application production support services. This individual will directly provide user support and operational assistance to resolve investment data, client reporting, and application issues. A strong understanding of Equity, Fixed Income and Derivative instruments, analytics and client reporting are important for this role.
In Sponsored Products, the Generalist Analyst will focus on the Account Master reference data initiative, involved from project inception through solution delivery, working closely throughout with both business and technology partners.
Responsibilities for the Lead Analyst roles include:
Business/Systems:
· Develop and analyze business requirements and present appropriate options
· Develop functional and technical specifications
· Plan, schedule and oversee the work effort required to meet the specifications and time requirements
· Provide leadership on the technical design of the system and help developers define effort and implementation schedules
· Perform gap analysis between process and existing systems, making recommendations for improvements where required
· Staying abreast of the "state-of-the-art" as it relates to investment practice, both within the firm and throughout the industry
· Work closely with colleagues in the Information Systems department to coordinate effective delivery of appropriate technical solutions
· Own, track, and research production issues while working with the appropriate teams on the resolution
Client Interaction:
· Independently establish and maintain effective client relationships
· Provide status reporting on projects and alert IS and business leadership to deviations from plan
· Interact with internal clients at all levels of the organization to proactively identify opportunities for improvements where required
· Manage the training needs of the client/user community
Application Support (specifically within Client Applications):
· Provide comprehensive user support including tracking, resolving, and reporting on support and enhancement requests, in a timely and thorough manner.
· Ensure the continuous availability and operational resiliency of a suite of Client Applications and related components
· Take ownership of production incidents, collaborate with others on remediation, and manage these issues through to a satisfactory completion
· Provide support for other firm wide initiatives such as disaster recovery testing, database upgrades, security audits, infrastructure upgrades, etc.
Above and beyond these specific areas of responsibility, the Analysts will be charged with being value added members of the teams. This entails understanding all aspects of the business in order to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
These roles are particularly challenging, and the firm is only looking for the "Best of the Best".
Required Skills and Competencies:
The individual we seek will be a highly intelligent professional who will straddle the business and systems sides of this position with comfort and energy. This individual will bring our client a diverse background, skill set, and perspective. The right person must incorporate outstanding management ability with the skills of a business/systems analyst, interpersonal and communications skills, a hands-on technical background, and for most of the roles, broad-based financial services skills. The Analysts Project Managers must be able to ask the right questions of the business users in order to get the right solution. The candidate must be a self-sufficient team player who is capable of taking direction, a visionary with an orientation to detail, and someone who works hard but can remember to have fun.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a background that includes many or most of the following skills, characteristics and experiences:
Technical Requirements:
· Ability to analyze needs, document requirements and assist in design of solutions
· Technical background with recent, hands-on, application / data engineering experience
· Understanding of Object Oriented concepts with design/development experience using Java based technologies
· Understanding and experience with technologies such as web-services, XML/XSLT, & JSON, messaging frameworks
· Good SQL skills to explore and understand complex database structures
· Ability to interact effectively with developers on requirements, effort estimates and acceptance testing
· Ability to plan, implement and report on project status
Client, Communication and Professional Skills:
· Excellent client interaction skills, polished presentation
· Ability to meet independently with broad cross-section of the firm up to and including senior business counterparts to determine requirement definition and implementation.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a self-starter with leadership skills
· Flexibility; the ability to both create change and adapt to a dynamic and rapidly changing business
· Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in a fast paced, mission critical production environment
· High attention to detail with an ability to demonstrate to business users an aptitude for diagnosing problem sources and spotting root causes from either a technical, data or business process angle.

Business Knowledge and Education:
· Ability to understand the business of Client Reporting or Sponsored Products Group, including expertise in one or more of the following; Equity, Fixed Income and Derivative instruments, analytics and client reporting.
· A CFA charter, or work towards one, is a plus
· Bachelor's degree is required
The Systems Support Analyst role focused on application support in Client Applications should bring data engineering and development experience to the position, ideally in Java.
