Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant Master Degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years experience in human services, program development, or related areas
• An energetic and dynamic leader with proven management experience in a complex environment, ideally within a non-profit setting or with non-profit agency involvement
• Experience in managing and leading teams, including those for which there is no direct supervisory responsibility
• Experience in supervising staff and coaching staff to reach their full potential;
• Excellent analytical ability and problem-solving skills; experience with moderately complex mathematic modeling approaches
• Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple priorities
• A strategic thinker with documented success in facilitating organizational change, business, communication, and program development and evaluation strategies;
• Strong experience in developing and managing budgets
• A track record of working in ways that contribute effectively to an organization's ability to achieve its goals
• Demonstrated ability to work within a community setting with diverse populations, including community groups, elected and non-elected policy makers, businesspersons, professional staff and volunteers
• Strong knowledge of the communities within UWMBMV’s service area with the ability to connect with key community leaders and earn the respect in the community-at-large
• Demonstrable cultural and ethnic competencies in one or more communities within the UWMBMV service area
• Extensive experience in outcome measurement and evaluation; and documented use of, and success in, using data to manage programs
• Ability to build consensus, collaborate with and convene multiple partners in efforts that produce specific deliverables and demonstrable outcomes
• Team builder who can also work as a member of a team in a collaborative environment
• Strong communication skills including group facilitation, presentation, listening, and writing skills
• Strong public speaking skills with ability to articulate complex issues, research and solutions to agencies, stakeholders, interested donors, the media and other interested parties
• Commitment to excellence and to the mission of United Way
