Blu Homes, a leading clean-tech company, is seeking qualified applicants for a Marketing & Communications
Associate Manager for its Sales Team. Blu engineers, manufactures, and sells high-tech, ecofriendly prefab
homes that are designed to take advantage of smaller spaces and intelligent design for more responsible
This position will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Create and implement public relations strategies, in conjunction with an external
contractor and the director of marketing, around new product releases, major
company news, client stories, and more.
Craft and distribute timely press releases and accompanying collateral (photos,
Creative and effective pitching of the media, with aim of raising both local and
national awareness and ultimately of increasing sales. Maintaining awareness of
changing company priorities geographical and otherwise for media relations
Prep co-founder and other staff for media interviews media training, briefing
Create and implement strategy around local communications/PR in specific communities,
with the aim of increasing awareness and sales in key markets tying to
Respond to press requests and providing materials, sound-bites, or interviews.
Create and maintain About Us/FAQ/Fact Sheet and other crucial
public-facing/media-ready company documents.
Manage and liaise with external vendors and PR tools (PRNewswire and MultiVu,
MyMediaInfo, designers and others providing materials for collateral and press
Organize the acquisition of high quality photography, and gather other collateral for
public relations and marketing purposes.
Craft and distribute editorials and other content for media and other marketing
purposes (ghost-writing for co-founders, for example).
Manage company Facebook page and Twitter handle, providing original content and making
connections with fans of Blu (esp. on Facebook) and media and other companies
(esp. on Twitter).
Create content for the company blog, in collaboration with members of all Blu teams,
from designers to sales.
Assist in web content management, making additions, changes and deletions as required.
Other marketing communications:
Edit any and all written company materials for consistent style and tone.
Craft and implement internal communications strategies including employee newsletter
Contribute to creation of content for, and editing of, marketing documents (brochures,
one-sheets) and website materials.
Craft Constant Contact email newsletters for distribution, including upcoming events
and other company news for subscribers.
Provide support at tradeshows and events, talking with prospective clients as well as
assisting with set-up and other needs.
Evaluate advertising opportunities, especially local and in conjunction with marketing
efforts in specific areas.
Identify and prepare for local events and speaking opportunities.
Support event management and awards submissions
Event communications, as well as internal prep (media briefings, sound-bites, more)
Award applications and follow-up
Character & Skills:
o Analytical, organized, and pragmatic approach with focus on attention to detail
Strong work ethic and ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to scale and adapt within a quickly growing company
Personable, friendly, and down to earth manner
Self-confidence and poise in working with clients and outside groups
Excitement about playing an integral part of growing sales at a high tech green home
Experience: Require 3 to 5 years in the marketing/communications/PR
industry or similar. Bachelors in Marketing and Communications or Business
