Company Overview
The Middlesex Corporation is a heavy civil contractor building highways,
bridges, marine and rail projects, as well as performing site
development on large parcels. Founded in 1972, we continue to provide
clients throughout New England and Florida with an array of innovative
solutions for their construction needs.

The Middlesex Corporation has an opening for a Payroll Supervisor at its
Corporate Headquarters in Littleton, MA. The Payroll Supervisor will
manage and administer the Company's overall payroll function, while
reporting to the Director of Finance.

Position Summary
The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of the
Company's weekly payroll process including payroll processing, the
401(k) benefit program, State and Federal reporting. The Payroll
Supervisor will also be responsible for developing and implementing the
appropriate payroll operations' policies and procedures as well as
ensuring that all internal processes are in compliance with Company
policies and state and federal regulations.

Specific Responsibilities:
* Manage and guarantee weekly disbursement of multi-state payroll,
including garnishments, benefits and taxes consistent with federal and
state wage and hour laws
* Ensure the processing of new hires, promotions and terminations is
accurate and timely
* Supervise payroll staff
* Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax
procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to
best-practice operations
* Process weekly paychecks in-house
* Audit payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc. working with I.T. and
Accounting including quarterly and year-end reporting to ensure timely
and accurate compliance
* Communicate actively with Operations, HR and Contract Admin. to review
cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing
* Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee
base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with
contracts (shop and prevailing wage)

Qualifications:
* BA or BS degree in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent levels of
knowledge in a relevant field
* 7+ years of recent experience with payroll work preferably in the
construction industry
* 3+ years of recent experience with managing staff
* Experience with payroll tax reporting
* Experience as a Certified Payroll Professional (C.P.R.) a plus
