If you answered yes, come join AFL's Noyes Test and Measurement Division high energy team in creating the best Fiber Optic Test products in the business. With a solid portfolio of products and a 25 year reputation in the industry, we are in the process of expanding our team to go after new opportunities. Noyes is opening a brand new R&D facility in Lowell Massachusetts minutes from routes I93 and I495 and less than a half hour drive from Boston.
Our software is a key differentiator for our products and Noyes has an aggressive plan to double the size of our software team in 2011. As a senior member of the software development team, you will be spearheading this initiative, be part of defining the software product strategy and direction, and play a mentoring figure for future hires.
This position providessenior, technical leadershipfor the development, test, and support of software in Noyes products.
The primary focus of the role is to increase the effectiveness of the group and its contributions to the business by:
* Create new software for fiber optic test systems
* Providing technical leadership to the team
* Technical contribution to software development
* Develop Product Specifications
* Mentorand nurture less senior engineers
The Skills Needed
We develop our products in C# and .NET for the Windows CE, XP, and 7 operating systems. Our software architecture is heavily based on an object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOD and OOA) foundation.
You will use your knowledge in these areas, as well as in algorithms and data structures to work with a cross-functional team of architects, marketing, developers, and SQA engineers in defining a new generation of leading edge fiber optic test products. You will also employ your skill set in defining the software development and deployment strategy, developing new software drivers, deploying innovative business layer logic, and creating intuitive, creative user-interfaces,.
You will work with Software and Divisional Management to communicate development plans, risks and proposed mitigation steps, and provide an overall definition of the proposed solution (Theory of Operation, Pros/Cons, etc).
You will use your knowledge and experience to help define our overall software platform roadmap into the future.
Skills/Requirements
B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
8 years of directly related experience as a Software Engineer
3 years of supervisory/management experience.
2 years of project management experience.
5 years of experience with computer systems.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to write well-structured programs.
Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, and Project.
Travel up to 10% of the time.
Microsoft Developer Certification preferred.
Knowledge of linux and Android operation systems a plus.
Competencies for Success:
• Demonstrated knowledge of C#.
• Demonstrated knowledge of .NET technology.
• Demonstrated knowledge in object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOD and OOA).
