Job Description
Product Manager BTU is a well-established global supplier of thermal processing equipment to electronics and solar markets. Due to the rapid growth in our solar business, BTU needs to strengthen its Marketing Team. The Product Manager we are seeking will be the marketing leader for our fastest growing product line in a segment where we are the global leader.
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Product Manager is the ultimate champion for her/his assigned market and products within the organization. You will define the direction and be a key driver for achieving our objectives and strategic initiatives. The Product Manager is a focal point for communication to the internal organization, to BTU field Sales and Service, and to our customers in all regions worldwide.
Responsibilities
· Drive product development efforts that deliver the right product to the market at the right time
o Fully understand the needs and requirements of the market through first-hand customer interaction (“voice of customer”).
o Forcefully/enthusiastically articulate those requirements to the organization to ensure that our products and services satisfy the market needs.
o Understand market pricing realities and define cost targets that allow new products to maximize revenue and share, while achieving targeted profits.
o Develop and execute launch plans for new products, options and upgrades.
· Generate and execute integrated marketing plans that maximize BTU’s opportunity in our markets
o Manage assigned products through all phases of the life cycle, from concept to launch to obsolescence.
o Create 2-3 year product roadmaps that are aligned with company strategies.
o Perform competitive analysis and generate market share estimates for assigned markets.
o Develop integrated promotions for assigned products and target markets:
o Work with Marketing Communications and ad agency to develop campaigns.
o Includes advertising, press releases, web site content, trade show activities and direct mail/email.
§ Establish list pricing for all assigned products and associated options.
· Actively communicate with both the internal organization and the external marketplace
o Write & have published technical articles or presentations at industry trade shows
o Keep a pulse on market trends through frequent, first-hand customer interaction on a worldwide basis.
o Proactively gather feedback on product roadmaps from key customers.
o Provide regular and timely product updates to the field sales (direct and reps) and service organizations
o Communicate marketing plans to functional groups to facilitate alignment and achieve annual objectives.
o Provide product training to the worldwide field sales organization, including positioning, features/benefits, competitive advantages and differentiation.
· Create or provide tools that allow our sales force to capture targeted business and win competitive battles in the market
o Sales Tools Include:
o Product presentations (Positioning/Features/Benefits)
o Competitive analysis with BTU competitive advantages and differentiation
o Product brochures, data and spec sheets
o Cost of Ownership data and tools
o Articles/White Papers/Applications Notes
· Provide input to the strategic planning process
o Analyze current or potential target markets.
o Provide long term, top-down size and growth forecasts for markets and associated products.
o Recommend potential strategies for pursuing opportunities in current or potential target markets.
· Global travel of up to 30%
Skills:
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Very good analytical and problem solving skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Education and Experience:
· 5 years of relevant experience with process equipment in the semi conductor or solar industry and/or with analytical equipment
· Experience in engineering and/or science and product management is preferred
· BS degree or equivalent in a technical discipline
· Maters degree in a technical discipline is preferred
