Director of Human Resources

About the Position:
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing a team of eight Human Resources professionals that support over 700 employees. This individual will ensure ongoing compliance of all employment, labor, ERISA, Wage and Hour as well as Affirmative action laws and requirements. Also included in the day to day responsibilities is ensuring the Agency’s compliance with labor contracts and contract negotiations prior to bargaining unit contract expirations. The Director will meet regularly with staff and management to review and enforce the policies and procedures of the Agency. In addition, the Director is also responsible for engaging in and overseeing the entire bid process for annual benefits renewal as well as ongoing monitoring of the Agency’s 403 (b) plan, participation, and compliance. The Director of Human Resources must be able to develop and effectively implement Agency and departmental strategic plans. The position reports to the Executive Director and works very closely with all members of the Senior Management team, including the Board of Directors.
Candidates for this position must have a BA/BS degree plus 8 – 10 years of progressive HR experience with 3-5 years at Director level, and have demonstrated professionalism and maturity in their past role as Director of Human Resources. Non-profit experience required. Must be able to handle challenging management issues while upholding objectivity and professionalism at all times. Candidates should have a comprehensive working knowledge of HR and Payroll information systems, ideally Ceridian. In addition, this individual should have prior experience working with unionized employees.
