General Summary:

Responsible for the operation of the Purchasing Department to achieve corporate and plant goals pertaining to quality, cost of goods, customer service and new product development.

Coach the Purchasing Team to achieve improved performance through the use of methods, analyses, and personal skill enhancement.

Provide leadership in applying Lean principles in every aspect of our business. 

Work closely with Global Procurement Group, Buyers and Planners to ensure strategic initiatives and tactical plans are developed and executed.

Fulfills Quality System requirements as described within the Quality Manual.  Complies with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Required Skills

> Bachelor’s degree required in business area or equivalent.

> Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing experience 

> Minimum of two (2) years managerial experience in materials, which include purchasing, inventory, planning/control and warehouse distribution.

> APICS or ISM certification is advisable

> Must be fluent with Microsoft Office software and SAP a plus

*Relocation assistance is not available for this position*

Required Experience

 

High preferences include: knowledge of SAP; APICS or ISC membership; previous experience in the Medical Manufacturing field;

Job Description :

This hybrid position is responsible for the execution of both buyer/planner and senior buyer activities on both a strategic and tactical basis. Key initiatives include management of various commodities and new product introductions, achieve aggressive cost reduction savings through supplier leverage and negotiations, and embrace and lead continuous improvement activities internally and externally.

·    Execute buyer/planner tactical activities to support various product lines as required to include order review, quoting, procurement of parts, generating work orders and managing production schedule for specified lines.

·    Cross-functionally support new product introduction (NPI) and ensure timely execution and response to quotation, order placement and status updates on all new projects.

·    Successfully transition NPI’s to mainstream production through close management of supply base, lead time and supplier management.

·    Lead outsourcing and continuous improvement actions.

·    Generate and report on quarterly supplier metrics. Tie site and corporate goals and objectives to supplier report card metrics each fiscal year.

·    Participate in the excess and obsolete reporting process.

·    Support MRO purchases as required.

·    Implement lean inventory concepts such as kanban releases with suppliers.

·    Develop a robust communication process with suppliers regarding change order implementation.

·    Ensure adherence to Sarbanes Oxley and Standard Operating Procedures.

Job Requirements :

·    7 years of experience at a senior buyer level and 3-5 years hands on experience as a buyer/planner.

·    Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

·    Results orientation and high energy level.

·    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·    Must have a best in class approach when supporting business initiatives.

·    Strong inventory management and negotiation skills required.

·    Must have experience implementing and managing supplier kanban processes.

·    Knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma principles and concepts.

·    Experience with Department of Defense small business requirements and reporting.

·    Knowledge of ITAR preferred.

·    Proficient in SAP a plus.

·    APICS certified preferred.

Description

The candidate will work in the R&D department in our Wilmington, MA facility. The candidate should have a fundamental understanding of physical and chemical principles and practices.  In addition, he/she should possess strong interdisciplinary skills with relation to chemical detection systems and experience in designing and developing analytical instruments.

  • Developing analytical instruments for homeland security applications
  • Evaluating instrument performance, analyzing data, and reporting study results
  • Resolving instrument related technical issues for a variety of company products
  • Provide application support for customers in a variety of security and detection applications
  • Lead trials and certification efforts
  • Lead research in Ion Mobility Spectrometry

 

Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a PhD/MS degree in PhysicalChemical science.
  • Must have at least 2 years hands-on experience in development or application of analytical instruments involving Ion mobility spectrometry and/or mass spectrometry
  • Must have experience working in a team environment.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Responsible for managing a complex, multi-million dollar and multi-year government funded program in collaboration with engineering, operations, quality, product management, finance, contracts and sales team members.  The Program Manager is responsible for delivering product on-time and on-budget by coordinating timely program support to internal and external customers and interested parties. Responsible for various program attributes including financial reports, product development coordination, and scheduling oversight of hardware manufacturing, testing and delivery.

 

Ø  Manages and contributes to all aspects of program execution to satisfy customer requirements and ensure profitability. Plans, monitors, and manages in order to avoid specification shortfalls, budget overruns, schedule overruns and situations requiring emergency management. Anticipates problems and takes timely actions to eliminate or mitigate.

 

Ø  Manages specification reviews and sign-offs between PerkinElmer and its Customer. Ensures that the agreed upon specification meets the customer needs and can be achieved on-time.

 

Ø  Negotiates and agrees upon Statement of Work (SOW) with customer to meet customer requirements and budget needs.

 

Ø  Acts as the principal contact for customer’s link between PerkinElmer Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Product Management.

 

Ø  Creates and executes detailed Program Plans to satisfy the product Specification and SOW.

 

Ø  Tracks program Earned Value via detailed Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) planning tools.

 

Ø  Performs other related duties of similar complexity as directed.

Job Requirements :

Ø Requires a BS degree in Science or Business. MS preferred.  

Ø Requires ten or more (10+) years experience in Engineering and/or Program Management within the aerospace/defense industry or equivalent training and experience.  

Ø Must have working knowledge of industry related guidelines such as Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), contracts administration, cost analysis, and program management. 

Ø Candidates must have a proven track record of managing and delivering complex programs to a timely and cost effective conclusion within the Defense industry. Demonstrated experience in the procurement and screening of electronic components for use in high reliability electronic systems for unmanned space applications is preferred. 

Ø Must also have demonstrated experience in all areas of aerospace development and manufacturing programs for complex, critical, high reliability electronic systems including design, all aspects of qualification testing such as vibration, pyrotechnic shock, EMI, and radiation testing, and manufacturing of such products. 

Ø Must have advanced knowledge, training and experience in the use of Microsoft Project software. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Corporate Record Keeping
* Supporting compliance programs
* Assisting in commercial contracting projects
* Accounting / Invoicing - Must have working knowledge of Excel in order to track IP expenses and submit payment to different businesses

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree with demonstrated academic success.
