What is the Ticket Program?

*       The Ticket to Work Program is a voluntary employment program for people with disabilities who are interested in going to work.

*       Its goal is to increase opportunities and choices for Social Security disability beneficiaries in order to obtain employment, vocational rehabilitation and other support services.

How Does the Program Work?

*       The Social Security Administration (SSA) provides disability beneficiaries with a Ticket [Click here] to obtain services and job search assistance from an Employment Network (EN).

*       The Career Place, under Middlesex Community College, is an approved EN. We work with Tickethholders to develop a workplan to reach their employment goals and coordinate referrals to other support services.

The Moving Beyond Career Club is a new, 10-week innovative program designed to help you GET BACK TO WORK! It’s a fun, interactive and supportive group of jobseekers like you that meet weekly to help each other.

 

COST: $75 (for entire 10 weeks) – including materials

 

The club is part of a new initiative from Tori Johnson, the Career Guru on
“Good Morning America”, founder of Women for Hire (womenforhire.com) and Waggleforce (waggleforce.com), and author of several career guides,

{Career Place} Leadership Woburn Workshop

 

Leadership Woburn Class

 

David Leading a Group In today's difficult economy, sharpening your skills and expanding your network is key to success in virtually every sector.       Leadership Woburn provides a chance to develop practical leadership skills while making a difference in your community.  Participants will learn through 5 hands-on workshops and work on a community project.

The program is ideal for people moving into a community leadership role or who is looking to advance their career through leadership development.  Participants will receive $100 for a community project. 

  • Participate in 5 hands-on leadership workshops (held on a designated weeknight Jan-March)
  • Develop marketable skills such as project planning, leveraging social networks, recruiting volunteers and more
  • Work on a community project with mentoring from experienced leaders.
  • Receive $100 to go toward your community project—either one you’re already planning to work on, or we can work with you to create one!
  • Meet others who want to make Woburn an even better place!

Sweetwater Pool Service in West Newton is looking for swimming pool technicians. Our company has been growing under new ownership for the past three years and we are looking to make an investment in young people who are looking for a long term commitment. We are interested in young candidates with (1) a few years of experience, (2) no experience but some skilled trade experience, and (3) just out of school and looking for a skilled trade career. The pool season starts in April and runs through October.  All employees

are laid off in late October and come back the following April.  You are eligible for unemployment during the off season.  Employees average about 1400 hours per season which is equivalent to thirty-five 40 hours weeks. The off season is 20-24 weeks long.  Despite the long off season, our employees are loyal and return to us every April. All candidates must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and excellent map skills.
