Position Responsibilities – Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for high level, global network planning,
design and optimization. He/she will develop strategies and direction for
network solutions and define network architecture standards in support of
global business requirements. In addition, the incumbent will plan, approve
and modify network designs to ensure compliance with defined architectural
standards. He/she will evaluate and recommend new products to support a
world class, cost effective global retail network in support of data, voice
and video communication to support current and future business requirements
and service levels.
This is a High visibility role. They are looking for a strategist, NOT a
heavy technician.
Must have strong Retail background – Global – Multiple
Sites/Stores/Locations
Reports to the VP – Enterprise Architecture Services
Required Skills and Competencies:
· 10-15 years network architecture experience
· Strong technical and business acumen, ability to translate network
business requirements into technical solutions
· Experience with retail transaction credit networks and distributed
sites, i.e. stores, distribution centers, corporate offices
· Experience with key network hardware solutions, i.e. Cisco
· Experience with multi data center (2+) networks
· Multi-national, global network architecture experience
· Experience designing networks for business continuity/disaster
recovery
· Experience architecting e-commerce solutions
· Experience with network security architecture
· Experience with satellite networks
· Experience designing multi-protocol global networks
· Experience with firewalls, intrusion detection and network
acceleration, i.e. Cisco, Juniper
· Prior experience with network architecture within a retail
environment
· Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) or Cisco Certified Network
Engineer certification/s preferred
· Able to multi-task and work in fast paced environment
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Proven ability to work independently, work with team members from
other groups and expertise in building indirect relationships to accomplish
deliverables
Travel:
Some travel is required for this role – Canada – UK – Estimated at 10-15%
max, probably less.
