Manufacturing Maintenance Planner/Scheduler – Company in Peabody

 

Job Description:          Scope:

Primary role of the maintenance Planner/Scheduler is to improve work force efficiency by eliminating delays and obstacles through planning and coordination of labor, parts and machine availability.

Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance work performed across the plant. He/she is the liaison and/or coordinator, using effective communication, between the operations, engineering and maintenance organizations for repair and construction work. He/she maintains appropriate data and information on the work enable analysis and reporting of results or work status.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Is principal contact and liaison person between maintenance and plant. Ensures production areas receive prompt, efficient and quality support from maintenance.

2. Receives all work orders from requestors except for emergency work that requires immediate attention.

3. Creates or obtains additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify scope of work.

4. Reviews and screens each work request to assure work scope clearly described, proper priority, requested completion dates are realistic and adequate lead-time for parts or materials.

5. Reviews work orders requiring significant design with mechanics and/or engineering.

6. Examines jobs with requester or maintenance to determine best way to accomplish work.

8. Obtains necessary blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures as needed.

9. Identifies and assures parts and materials, stocked or purchased, are available for job.

10. Ensures safety needs (ex. permits, HSE orientation) are properly addressed in planning work.

11. Plans jobs taking into account sequence of steps and various trades' requirements. Lists materials and any special tools or equipment needed.

12. Maintains list of lower priority work orders to be executed, by priority, within 2 months of request.

13. Has process to manage each department's PM workload in order to efficiently schedule and complete them on time.

14. Matches daily work load with labor availability working with Supervisor.

15. Manages overall maintenance work load to meet requestor work deadlines and maintaining preventive maintenance schedules.

16. If work orders cannot be scheduled within prescribed schedule, requestor is notified promptly so appropriate counter action can be taken.

17. Works with production department to balance priorities across plant. Negotiates for downtime for preventive and corrective maintenance work.

18.  Recommends equipment to be included in preventive maintenance programs.

19. Continuously monitors work order list status by being on the shop floor and communicating with operations.

20. Schedules weekly meetings with production and maintenance supervisors and consults with them to status and prioritize work and long-range needs.

21. Crosses over with mechanics daily at start of shift to status and assign work.

22. Communicates maintenance work status at daily Morning Markets with detail and by priority.   

23. Implements maintenance/small engineering projects

Skills and Experience Required:         Skill/Knowledge Requirements:

1. Maintenance planning and scheduling processes/procedures in a manufacturing environment.

2. Planning, time estimating and scheduling for various skilled trades (ex. mechanical, pipe, welding, electrical, etc.).

3. Identification and specification off parts and materials.

4. Monitor maintenance work status vs. plan or schedule.

5. Application of software skills to perform job duties and general communication (ex. Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office, Project Planning software/tools, etc.).

6. Verbal and written skills.

Interpersonal skills

7. Work execution release methods including the ability to read equipment and process drawings and sketches.

8. Manufacturing operations, processes and associated business requirements including day-to-day priorities
